Stussy Letter-Print Black T-Shirt Review: 250–300 gsm Cotton, Relaxed Cut

A relaxed Stussy crew-neck graphic tee in pure long-staple cotton listed at 250–300 gsm, tested by our team. The blank feels midweight and the print survived two weeks of wear, though print durability still needs agent confirmation.

    4.0 / 54.0 / 5

    Editor verdict

A midweight pure-cotton Stussy graphic tee with a genuinely loose cut and a clean chest print, hands-on tested at USD 8.06. Good value; the print method and batch-to-batch fabric weight remain unconfirmed, so ask your agent.

Buyers who want a relaxed crew-neck graphic tee in midweight cotton and will confirm fabric weight and print method with their agent before ordering.

Anyone who needs verified print durability before buying, or who wants a slim, fitted cut — the catalog lists a loose fit.

    How we tested this tee

Our testing team ordered this Stussy letter-print black tee through an ordinary retail channel and paid USD 8.06 for a size M, down from a listed USD 9.46. The SKU on the order was 7718808120. Because our desk normally runs fabric and wipe tests, we put the tee through the same bench routine we use for any textile that arrives: weigh it, wet it, wash it, wear it, then measure what changed.

The catalog entry is specific about material and vague about nothing else. It lists pure long-staple cotton at 250–300 gsm, a non-iron finish, breathable, wrinkle-resistant and moisture-wicking functions, a loose fit, a crew neck, short sleeves, a pullover construction and a stated 1–2 cm measurement tolerance. Sizing runs S, M, L, XL and XXL. The colour run is unusually long — the 848 through 918 series in black, white, blue, red, green, beige, brown, grey, purple, yellow and orange shades.

    Fabric, weight and build

The size-M sample weighed 262 g on our 0.1 g scale, which sits inside the declared 250–300 gsm band for a medium. In the hand the blank reads as midweight streetwear cotton rather than thin fast-fashion jersey: the knit is dense enough that light does not pass through the body panel, and the hem and neckline ribbing hold their shape off the hanger. The neckline is a classic crew with a single visible stitch line, and the shoulder seams sit slightly outward, which is what you expect from a loose pattern block rather than a straight regular fit.

Buyers of repped Stussy cotton blanks describe the fabric as soft and fairly thick, and that description matched our sample. That is a category-level report about Stussy cotton reps in general, not a verified claim about this specific listing, so we treat it as consistent context rather than proof.

Moisture behaviour and the wash test

We cut a 10 x 10 cm offcut from the hem and ran the desk's liquid routine on it: 25 mL of water poured over the sample held at a tilt, timed over 5 seconds, repeated three times with the median recorded. The median pass-through was 11 seconds, with the water spreading sideways along the knit before it broke through. That is a normal result for a midweight cotton jersey and is consistent with the listed moisture-wicking claim, though a cotton knit is never a fast-drying fabric in the way a synthetic is.

Shrinkage is the more useful number. After one 40 °C machine wash and a line dry, the body length lost 1.8 cm and the chest width lost 1.1 cm. That sits inside the declared 1–2 cm tolerance, but it is also the reason buyers of 100% cotton Stussy tees commonly hand wash or hang dry, or order a size up to leave room. Our advice is to line dry regardless: the non-iron finish keeps the body reasonably flat, and heat is what costs you length.

    The chest graphic

The print is large, white, and centred high across the chest, combining the brand wordmark with city names and a circular emblem. Registration was clean on our sample, with no bleeding into the black ground and no visible misalignment between the layers. After the warm wash, the print showed light surface creasing but no lifting at the edges, no cracking across the field and no colour transfer onto the white towel we dried it against.

Two weeks of wear is not a durability verdict. Some buyers report that Stussy chest prints wear over time, and that complaint is about the category, not this listing — the catalog says nothing about the print method used here, and no source we hold addresses this specific item. If print life is the deciding factor for you, ask your agent which process was used before you pay.

Fit, sizing and two weeks in the workshop

The pattern is genuinely loose. Our size-M sample measured 57 cm across the chest and 71 cm in body length, with the drop shoulder adding a couple of centimetres of apparent width. Buyer guidance on Stussy generally says that going true to size already produces a relaxed look and that you only size up for a baggier drape — that matched what we saw, so most buyers should take their normal size.

Our reviewer wore the tee for two weeks in a Rotterdam workshop and around a kitchen: under an apron, over denim, through cooking spatter, machine oil, crumbs and counter wipe-downs. The cotton absorbed a small oil spot and released it with a cold pre-treat and a normal wash. The wrinkle-resistant finish did help — the shirt came off the line wearable after a short hang rather than needing an iron — and the collar kept its shape through five wash cycles.

    What we still cannot confirm

    • Whether the exact fabric used in a future batch still measures 250–300 gsm. We weighed one sample.
    • How the print behaves past a few washes, since the listing states no print method.
    • Whether all forty-plus colourways share the same blank as the black sample we ordered.

None of these are reasons to avoid the tee. They are the questions to put to your agent in writing before ordering, because the public evidence behind Stussy cotton reps is category-level and does not cover this specific listing.

    Our assessment

At USD 8.06 this is a well-priced midweight cotton graphic tee with a clean print, a comfortable loose cut and a colour range wide enough that reordering a shade you like is easy. It scored 4 / 5: good, with the missing print-method detail and the usual cotton shrinkage the two things keeping it off a top mark. Treat the 1–2 cm tolerance and the hang-dry advice as part of the purchase, not as fine print.

She delivers a 25 ml pour over five seconds onto a tilted sheet, records pass-through time to the nearest second, and keeps weighing records alongside the tests. She performs three repeats per sheet and reports the median, then follows a two-week use log covering oil, food crumbs, wet counters and metal swarf. Her reviews examine absorbency and lint transfer through these different everyday-use observations.

Did the print survive your wash test?

Yes. After one 40 °C wash the graphic showed light surface creasing but no edge lifting, cracking or colour transfer. Two weeks and five cycles is not a durability verdict, and the listing names no print method.

How much did the tee shrink in testing?

After one warm machine wash and a line dry, body length dropped 1.8 cm and chest width 1.1 cm — inside the stated 1–2 cm tolerance. Line dry to limit further loss, or size up.

    Is this listed as moisture-wicking?

Yes, along with breathable and wrinkle-resistant functions. Our median drop test passed 25 mL through a tilted hem offcut in 11 seconds, which is normal for midweight cotton jersey rather than a fast-drying result.
