This bench method applies to suitable layered reusable cleaning-sheet categories. Record the sample, method and equipment. For each candidate SKU, use two purchased units and three sheets cut or drawn from each pack, subject to availability and category suitability. Measure dry weight and dimensions against the pack dimensions. At the absorbency station, pour 25 ml over five seconds onto a tilted sheet, record pass-through time to the nearest second and record “blot mass” on a 0.1 g scale. Repeat each sheet three times and report the median. The log must define the object weighed for blot mass, the baseline, calculation, balance resolution and equipment. Without those definitions, do not interpret blot mass as absorbency or wet-cloth mass, and do not publish an undefined result.
For durability, use a 40 °C cotton wash programme with a standard powder dose, then line drying, only where that wash route is suitable and documented. Measure shrinkage at cycles 1, 10, 20 and 30; photograph cut edges under a light box at each checkpoint, and record fraying past 3 mm. Lint-transfer on dark wool and pilling-drum checks apply only to relevant polishing grades. Keep everyday-use observations separate: a two-week phase in a working kitchen and workshop bay, logging oil, crumbs, wet counters, metal swarf and feel after the tenth wash. Check fibre statements, pack counts and certification marks against retained supplier records where available.
Any score is a weighted judgement written as X / 5 on the site’s stated scale, with the highest and lowest categories named. The five-point score is separate from a recommendation threshold. Failed samples remain in the log and in review notes rather than being silently removed.
